How to address mid-to-low frequency issues?

Low to mid-frequency noise control (commonly used in industrial/consumer electronics scenarios) Low to mid-frequency noise (typically referring to the 20Hz–500Hz band) is characterized by strong penetration and slow attenuation. It is commonly found in s

  1. Material Level: Use targeted noise reduction materials
Soundproofing materials: For mid-to-low frequencies, high-density and high-damping materials should be selected, such as:
Butyl rubber damping sheet: Attached to the surface of metal plates to suppress mid-to-low frequency noise generated by plate resonance, commonly used in automotive sheet metal and industrial equipment enclosures.
High-density soundproofing felt (≥3kg/㎡): More suitable for blocking mid-to-low frequencies than ordinary soundproofing cotton, and can be used in the interlayer of walls and equipment enclosures.
Acoustic Absorption Materials: Ordinary fiber cotton has poor sound absorption performance for mid-to-low frequencies, requiring the use of specialized porous and large-chambered materials, such as:
R1: "Foam" must be translated as "foam"
Polyurethane foam (open cell rate ≥ 90%): Used in conjunction with perforated panels, where the hole diameter and spacing of the perforated panels should match the wavelengths of mid-to-low frequencies to form a resonant sound-absorbing structure.
Low-frequency sound absorber: A suspended cavity-structured acoustic module specifically designed for the 100–300Hz low-frequency range, suitable for factory workshops and equipment rooms.
Vibration damping materials: Much of the medium and low-frequency noise originates from the transmission of equipment vibrations, which can be mitigated by using vibration damping materials to block the propagation path
Rubber vibration damping pad / vibration isolator: Installed between equipment and the ground or support, it attenuates the transmission of vibrations to the building or enclosure.
Spring shock absorber: For high-power equipment (such as air compressors), the low natural frequency of the spring can effectively isolate low-frequency vibrations.
Structural Level: Optimized Design Enhances Noise Reduction Effect
Double-layer soundproofing structure: An air gap (or damping material) is reserved between two layers of high-density panels, with the air gap thickness ≥5cm, significantly enhancing mid-to-low frequency sound insulation.
Sealing treatment: Mid-to-low frequency noise can easily penetrate through gaps, so sealant strips and foam adhesive should be used to block the gaps around equipment enclosures and pipelines passing through walls.
Avoid Resonance: If the natural frequency of the equipment housing or sheet metal parts coincides with the noise frequency, it will amplify the noise. This can be mitigated by adding ribs or attaching damping patches to alter the natural frequency.
